In the morning today, he met with select media and later addressed the College of Governors in the Rotary House. "After polio which is almost an inch away from being abolished from the world, Rotary would have a major task persuading 92 countries in the world to make elementary education free for the children", he said. He recalled his association with past Rotary International President Clem Renouff who despite his age (90), continues to be most active.
Past Rotary International President Rajendra K. Saboo recalled his association with Clem Renouff and how he was instrumental in initiating the 3H programme that paved the way for the polioplus programme to be launched by Rotary.
Later, he attended the Rotary District 3080 Leadership Seminar at Tagore Theatre, and addressed the Rotary leaders, who had come from distant clubs with as far as eight hours long drive.
The Leadership Seminar was a huge success with large number of participation from the District.
The day was rounded off with a well planned cultural evening in the Chandigarh Golf Range lawns, with melody queen Dolly Guleria, a famous Panjabi folk singer regaled the audience.
Now all is set for tomorrow, as DISCON 2010 opens with a grand classical presentation by Bharatnatyam danseuse Suchitra Mitra.
